About
Does your child or teen have difficulty following rules or problems in school or with their peers? If you're a parent needing solutions to these problems, I can provide immediate assistance. I have helped hundreds of children of all ages solve these and other problems by building self confidence and learning new skills. I also help teens who have depression; anger management issues; lack self confidence and have difficulty fitting in. My clients achieve self-confidence and greater self-esteem after a few sessions. They feel better about themselves and every area of their lives is significantly improved.
I provide a safe, comfortable setting which allows clients to explore their issues and quickly find solutions. Each client is encouraged to formulate specific goals which lead to postive change. I help clients discover their unique gifts and strengths.
Bio
I have a Master's Degree in Social Work and am a Licensed
Clinical Social Worker. I graduated from Calif. State Unversity, Fresno in
1978 and has worked in community mental health, psychiatric hospitals
and managed care organizations.

I am currently in private practice --providing counseling and in-home coaching
for parents, children and adolescents. I bring over 25 years of experience
to the practice of counseling.
I have had Advanced Training in the Nurtured Heart Approach, originally
developed by Howard Glasser, to work with difficult children and adolescents
who have behavioral problems which include ADD; ADHD and ODD (Oppositonal
Defiant Disorder). I also provide individual and couple therapy for adults.
I have spent the better part of my life wondering what it takes to be a successful
parent. I grew up in a "dysfunctional" family as my parents often gave me more
attention when I was struggling with some problem or acting up. Although they
meant well, they related to me in a critical manner with too much focus on my
faults and shortcomings.
As children, we crave attention from others--parents, siblings, teachers, etc.
What we need is positive recognition in order to grow and become independent.
If children don't receive positive attention they will tend to seek out negative
attention. Typically, negative behavior elicits a larger response than positive
behavior. When this occurs, parents unknowingly reinforce negative behavior.

If you'd like to discuss your situation, I would be interested in speaking

with you. Call me for a free 15 minute consultation.
