MITPP is offering a 4-week, hour-long group for mental health professionals and interns at MCMH to address the experience of the COVID- 19 crisis and its impact on psychoanalytic psychotherapy. The group will focus on a range of treatment issues including shared patient and therapist anxieties that have arisen in response to quarantine, illness, loss and the management of uncertainty. The public health necessity to offer tele-health begs considerations of a frame where patient and therapist do not occupy the same physical space. Given that we are living in a shared world of uncertainty, one that revives early anxieties in a manner that reshapes psychic reality, the group will provide a space for participants to discuss their own thoughts and experiences of this unprecedented time.

Learning objectives:
Participants will:
1) be able to identify their experiences while working with patients during the pandemic.
2) recognize shared patient and therapist experiences in responses to COVID-19, such as anxiety, depression, isolation, anger, loss and mourning.
3) be able to identify 4 risk factors in themselves and in patients: anxiety, depression, PTSD, suicidal ideation.
