Would You Like to Feel Happier? Therapy Can Help!
Specialties: EMDR, Gifted / Talented Children & Adults, LGBT
If you'd like your days to hold more joy and peacefulness, psychotherapy can help. In therapy you can explore options, gain new skills, and address specific areas of concern.

• Do your unique abilities leave you feeling misunderstood, or as if you don’t fit in?
• Is your relationship less satisfying than you’d like it to be? Do you struggle to find meaningful communication and intimacy in a relationship?
• Have you experienced trauma (an acute incident or a chronic pattern) that leaves you feeling frightened, frozen, or numb at certain times? Or perhaps you just feel depressed or unhappy more than you’d like, and can’t figure out why?
• Are you concerned about your child or family?

Therapy can help with these situations, along with many others such as depression, anxiety, drug/alcohol/sex use; as well as prejudice and challenges that LGBT individuals may encounter. You deserve to have a happy and fulfilled life, and therapy may be a tool to help you in creating that.

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) working in Noe Valley, in San Francisco, CA.
If you’d like help addressing the things that trouble you; or want to feel happier, calmer, and more excited about your life, please call or email me. In a free short consultation you can get a sense of what it might be like for us to work together. I hope to hear from you.
As a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist located in San Francisco and Noe Valley, I provide psychotherapy for individuals, couples, children, and families.

I am experienced in a broad range of presenting issues, and have also developed specializations in several areas, including:
• Gifted Adults and Children
• Relationship and Communiation Issues, also see Couples Counseling
• Drug and Alcohol Problems, including Other Addictions & Recovery
• Child and Teen-Aged Clients
• Infertility and Family Building, including Adoption, Surrogacy & Medical
• Gay and Lesbian Concerns, including Coming Out and Relationships

Psychotherapy with me is not a place where you will be given advice or told what to do. It is a place where together we can explore options, build skills, brain-storm about possibilities, sit with uncomfortable feelings or realizations, review without judgment what works and what doesn’t work for you, try new things, and ultimately heal and grow.

My work is based in some key beliefs:
• I believe in the dignity and worth of all individuals and work to affirm it.
• I strive for compassion, dignity, and transformation in working with others.
• I help people bring possibility into reality.
• I know that life presents challenges and struggles to each of us, and that the process or meeting these c challenges can be as important as the result.
• I ascribe to and and practice the ethical principles of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (AAMFT).
• I believe in the power of therapy to help people change.

My approach to therapy is best described as compassionate, nonjudgmental, and collaborative.

My bachelor’s degrees are in Mathematics and Vocal Performance. My M.A. is in Social/Clinical Psychology, from New College of California. This particular degree includes a thorough grounding in psychological theory as well as training in the impact of social influences and social systems in clients’ lives. It included two years of training in providing effective multicultural work.

My supervised clinical hours were spent at the University of California San Francisco / AIDS Health Project (USCF/AHP); a San Francisco Community Mental Health System (SF/CMHS) clinic called The Center for Special Problems (CSP), and at an East Bay family service agency called Xanthos, Inc.

Through these years of training, I worked with clients from a broad spectrum of ethnic backgrounds, including adult clients who identified as HIV-positive; African-American, Latino, Caucasian, Pacific Islander, lesbian, gay, straight, bisexual, questioning, queer, substance abusing, and in recovery. I also worked with couples.

My work with children includes clients from age 4 through 18, both individually and with their families. I developed and led Youth Anger Management groups for over two years, and worked as a consultant to Head Start. Since becoming licensed, I have pursued more specialized training in working with:
