The Institute of Living's Child and Adolescent Outpatient Clinic is dedicated to promoting and restoring the mental health needs of the young people of the Hartford area and their families. The clinic, established in 1954, has a long tradition of service to the Hartford area community. The operating costs of the clinic are jointly borne by Hartford Hospital and by a child guidance clinic grant from the Department of Children and Families.

Bilingual/Bicultural Services
The clinic provides mental health services to children, adolescents and their families. The clinic accepts Medicaid and commercial insurance. A sliding fee scale is available.

Medication Clinic
Child and adolescent psychiatrists are available to prescribe and monitor ongoing psychiatric medications. Treatment in the medication clinic requires an initial diagnostic evaluation, and at least monthly participation in psychotherapy with a mental health clinician (clinical social worker, advanced practice registered nurse, or psychologist). The medication clinic is held Tuesday-Thursday. Referrals are made to the Director of Ambulatory Services at (860) 545-7239.
