I'ao Acupuncture & Spa is the name of my Acupuncture & Oriental medicine practice on Maui, Hawaii. "I' ao" is an acronym for "Integrating Acupuncture & Others". It is a wellness center providing the medical treasures of Acupuncture & Oriental medicine as well as working with other forms of medicinal practices or therapies geared to service the community as well as travelers alike in addressing all their healthcare needs.
Traditional Japanese acupuncture is my choice of needling technique, which is a more gentler needling style and precise stimulation of point location. The use of "yaito" or moxibustion is a very regular and standard protocol also implemented in treatments, according to the correct conditions.
In addition to acupuncture & Oriental medicine, my wellness center also offers the therapies of a high quality far infrared sauna heat therapy, whole body vibrational therapy, traditional Thai massage or warm Jade stone massage therapy. All aide in the detox, rejuvenation and restoration of the mind, body and spirit. |

Christine Asuncion is a Licensed Acupuncturist in both New York State and Hawaii. She is recognized for her high achievement designated as a Diplomat of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine and is Board Certified by the National Commission on Certification of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM). She holds a four year Masters of Science degree in Acupuncture, Herbology & Oriental Medicine from the well established Pacific College of Oriental Medicine (CA & NY campus). Her professional background includes rehabilitative therapy working closely with a Physiatrist in New York and physical therapy with sports medicine. She has always followed a path of working with the body to improve, enhance and preserve its overall well-being. Choosing to participate in this method of healing has allowed for her to continue her growth and success in achieving harmonious health.
In addition, she also holds a Master of Science degree in Exercise Physiology from the School of Medicine from West Virginia University. Currently, Christine Asuncion maintains her private practice on Maui, Hawaii and is the owner of I’ao Acupuncture & Spa, an Oriental Medicine wellness center providing gentle and effective healthcare to the community and those traveling through the Islands.
She practices Traditional Japanese style acupuncture, a mild method of needling, focused moxibustion (yaito) techniques and strong emphasis on palpation. She continues to enhance her skills by receiving special training and studies with highly acclaimed Shudo Denmei Sensei from Japan as well as those teachers sharing their knowledge and expertise on Internal Medicine, Gynecology, Pediatrics and Orthopedics. She has also extended her training in Taiwan at the China University Medical Hospital, which is acknowledged for Acupuncture and Zheng Gu Tui Na (bone setting). Her medical specialties range from acupuncture pediatrics, orthopeadics, fertility, cancer care treatments, addictions and acupuncture facial rejuvenation. |
