Manhattan Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
Uptown and Downtown
My professional practice is dedicated to helping people overcome difficulties in managing troubling emotions, dysfunctional behaviors, or problems in career, relationship, or life transition. Working primarily in short-term cognitive behavioral models, trouble areas are defined and broken down. Clients are actively encouraged to collaborate on developing new, healthier perspectives, and to generate and practice effective coping strategies and skills. Foundations in psychodynamic and developmental theory, neuroscience, as well as eastern philosophy and mindfulness practice often inform and shape the course of work.

After many years working in film and television production, mostly on music videos and commercials, I went back to school to start towards this second career as a psychotherapist.

In my mid-thirties, seemingly irreconcilable differences developed between the film work, which demanded long days of total immersion, and my obligations to my young family, who needed my time and attention even more. It wasn't easy, took a bunch of time (and therapy!), but, in the end, family, and this new career, won out.

I earned my Bachelor's in Psychology and Religion at Hunter/the CUNY BA program; and then went on for a Master's in Social Work at NYU.

My NYU training included an internship at the Manhattan Psychiatric Center where I worked with clients afflicted with severe and persistent mental illness. An internship at the Albert Ellis Institute followed. There I trained in Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT) while providing psychotherapy to individuals, couples, and groups. Most recently I completed a fellowship with the Neighborhood Coalition for Shelter providing psychotherapy to homeless MICA (Mentally Ill Chemical Abusing) clients at the Coalition's Bronx Transitions program.

In addition to private practice, I continue to offer my services to outside mental health agencies.
