Helping loved ones to cope with the stress of caregiving.
Caring for someone with Alzheimer's or dementia can be overwhelming. It is estimated that 40-70% of caregivers suffer from depression and burnout. Emotional and physical challenges can overwhelm even the most capable, leaving them with the inability to care for themselves, their careers, relationships and other things that matter to them. Caregiving is a chronic stress, and I can help. Many people come in looking for help when they feel that their resources and resilience have been obscured by the magnitude of their problems, I will work collaboratively with you to help to re discover a story of possibility and hope.
Bio
Together, we will work to outline a plan to reduce current distress and to re discover resilience. Once you are feeling some relief from the immediate concerns that brought you to therapy, it may be helpful to continue to explore and further implement this resilience to other areas of your life where you would like to facilitate growth and change.
I work under the assumption that you have an intrinsic ability to heal. I will help guide you in identifying and utilizing coping skills and practical tools to regain the confidence needed to feel powerful and capable. I've been working as a Psychotherapist for 20+ years, and borrow from many sources of inspiration and knowledge gathered along the way.
