Independent Consulting Services has been serving the autistic and developmentally disabled population for the past thirty years. We specialize in servicing long term care facilities that serve this population. However, we also service in-home clients, helping their parents cope with their children's behaviors, as well as school settings for kids who have a difficult time and exhibit behavioral problems. Our services primarily consist of assessing the problem, coming up with a workable behavioral plan, implementing that plan, and teaching all of the people involved how to run the plan. Formal training and presentations on Applied Behavior Analysis and developing behavioral strategies are also available. Our Executive Director is an author and well known in the San Fernando area who wrote the book "WHY WE BEHAVE" explaining why we have to behave to survive in this world and the more efficiently you behave, the more opportunities you have to succeed in whatever you are doing or want to do. We offer licensed psychologists, Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBA), Marriage and Family Counselors (MFT), and psychopharmacologists. We come to you. We are a mobile group and serve the people needing our services where the problem is occurring.
Education/Training
Our Executive Director, Dr. Maurice Cayem, has a Ph.D. in psychology, and a post-doctoral Master's of Science degree in psychopharmacology, and continues to take classes and attend seminars on a wide range of topics in the field of counseling, therapy, and behaviorism. Our Clinical Director, Daniel R. Cayem, holds a Master's of Science degree in Applied Behavior Analysis and is working on his Ph.D. in psychology. Our field therapists all have at least a BA or MA with extensive experience in working with the developmentally disabled population which is our main focus.
Bio
Independent Consulting Services started out as a single person, licensed psychologist, that was an approved vendor with the Regional Centers to provide in-home assistance to parents with children exhibiting severe behavioral problems. The practice quickly expanded to service many long-term care residential facilities that require this kind of service. In the last twenty years or so, we have expanded the areas served to extend from Orange County to Fresno. Our major involvement, however, is in San Fernando Valley where we began. Our company has the majority of the facilities in that area with three to four people in that area on a daily basis.
The founding member of the company is Dr. Maurice Cayem who has published a research project on applied behavior analysis in 1986, several poems in poetry books, and a book with the title WHY WE BEHAVE that explains the dynamics involved in behavior and introducing Behavioral Sociobiology, a new way of looking at and dealing with behavioral issues.
