The crestwood Group, LLC provides mental healthy and substance abuse therapy. We are approved to provide clinical evaluations and treatment for the State of Georgia for those who have experienced a DUI. The Crestwood Group, LLC provides individual and group counseling, couple counseling, evaluations, drug testing.
Work with families and children who are having problems. We offer Clinical supervision for those who are certified addiction counselors and supervision for those who are working on becoming a Licensed Professional Counselor.
We offer special programs such as parenting classes, anger management and marriage enhancement. We help in the rebuilding of ones self-esteem, self-worth.
PTSD counseling is also provided for those suffering from trauma as a result of a war or trauma experienced in other areas of their life.
Education/Training
Dr. Vaughns received a Bachelor and Master's degree in substance abuse and mental health counseling and in December of 1994, he was awarded a PhD in Counseling in December 2010. He is a certified addiction counselor, a Master Addiction Counselor and a certified clinical supervisor as well as a Certified professional counselor supervisor for Licensed Professional Counselors.
Bio
James A. Vaughns (JIM) has been in this field since 1976 as a member of the United States Air Force where he provided counseling to military members and their families. Dr. Vaughns retired from the Air Force and began another career working for the local mental health center working with a day-treatment for adolescents and their families. We used the Ropes Course as a primary means of working with children, adolescents and families. He then worked with teenagers in a residential program where he worked with children and teens with an assortment of mental health diagnosis and behavior problems.
Dr. Vaughns then moved to Columbus Georgia to work with adults with co-occurring disorders and contract with the mental health center to provide clinical supervision and training to those wishing to become certified addiction counselors and multi-family therapy for a residential substance abuse program for adolescents. Dr. Vaughns was team leader who provided clinical therapy to individual,and families in the Intensive Family Intervention (IFI) for over nine years.
Dr. Vaughns attended many training by the LPCA where he received supervisions, and many training to be qualified to provide all the listed services.
Dr. Vaughns opened his private practice in April of 2006 with a colleague and eventually moved into his own office to provide continuing services to his client population.
