Counseling for Anxiety, Stress, Trauma and Relationships
You’re tired of feeling stressed out, anxious, and overwhelmed. You drag yourself out of bed every morning, exhausted from another night of worrying, and dreading the day ahead. You wonder if you will be able to get everything done because there's always so much to do! Even when you get things done, you just don't feel like it was good enough. Warm, fuzzy feelings from life accomplishments don’t stick around. Your thoughts are already jumping ahead to the next thing on the list, stuck on what went wrong, worrying about stuff from your past or what could happen in the future. You can't turn off the worry, no matter how hard you try. What would your life would life look like without all of the worry?

People in your life don’t seem to understand what you are going through, no matter how much you try to explain your anxiety and emotions. You feel misunderstood and unhappy in your relationships, and if one more person tells you that you are “too emotional” or “overreacting”, you may just lose your sh**! No one seems to understand that you can’t just turn it off. If it were that easy, you would have already done it! You feel so alone sometimes. You just want to feel more like yourself and get out of this negative groove you've been stuck in.

I help smart, motivated professionals learn how to deal with anxiety, manage stress, and feel more confident in themselves and their relationships.

Whether you are going through a life change that is stressing you out, or are trying to work through past trauma or relationship issues, I can help you get your life on a path that works for you. By teaching you coping skills to manage your emotions and anxiety, you can start to feel better, and more satisfied and content with yourself and your life.

I provide individual counseling in my Hillsborough office and online anywhere in New Jersey.
Making the decision to start therapy is a big one! I know it's a huge commitment of your time, your energy, and your money, and I appreciate how hard it can be to get the ball rolling. I'll tell you a bit about me and how I work so you know what to expect. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask!
Here is a brief rundown on some of the techniques I use in sessions to help you tackle your anxiety and stress, work through past trauma, improve your relationships, and start to feel more positive about yourself.

About Sessions: I have lots of training that I pull into sessions to give you some ways to cope with things right away. Some of those treatment methods that I use frequently are: Mindfulness, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Somatic Psychotherapy. I love helping my clients so I'm always taking new classes and trainings to bring in fresh tools and information.

I sometimes give homework. It takes a lot of work to make changes in your life and homework is a great way to get into the nitty-gritty of the issues, and start changing them.

I believe that being honest with yourself is necessary for change and healing. So….if I notice that there are some things that you are doing, thinking, or saying, that are helping you stay stuck, I will bring it up. This can feel uncomfortable, but can move you forward.

What about my credentials?
I have a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Maryland, and a Masters in Social Work from Rutgers University. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (Lic 44SC05716000) in New Jersey and have completed thousands of hours of training, along with state required licensing testing.

My experience includes working with survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault, as well as clients with a history of childhood trauma. I am intensively trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) through my work at a trauma program for women. Additional experience and trainings are in CBT, somatic psychotherapy, and working with teens, young adults and their families. Being a mom to three teen/young adult girls I know how hard (and wonderful, of course) parenting can be. I also understand typical challenges faced by this age group.

I am happy to answer any questions you have about my work, my training, and how I can help you manage your anxiety and stress, and work through past trauma and relationship issues.
