Helping Orange County Families for 30 Years
Adolescent & Child Specialist
Have you felt like you have tried everything you know how to to help your child with their struggles with you, school, friends, or attitude? Do you hope that the problems you are facing will just get better with time, but are finding that they are just getting worse and you are getting more depressed and anxious? If you are at the place to reach out for help you getting ready to make a very important decision. It is very important that you are able to know the amount of experience a therapist has in areas you need help with. It will be important to know the degree that they are similar to your value system, and it will be important that you feel comfortable and confident with them enough to share your personal life with them. I hope this information about myself will be helpful for you to determine if I might be someone who can help you. I have been in private practice in south Orange County for 30 years and have helped thousands of families and individuals not only face the problems before them, but understand the extent, causes, and therefore, the way to begin correcting and healing so that your life is more effective and purposeful. I have specialized in child and adolescent therapy, individual, and family therapy this entire time and work in the modalities of play therapy, individual, and family therapy. I treat depression, anxiety, social problems, school problems, anger, and ADHD, to name a few. I have received extensive training in child development from a psychodynamic and attachment model. If working with children individually I arrange periodic parent meetings to provide coaching for the parents, and with the parents develop a treatment plan that together we implement and follow up on. My strong background in attachment theory also enables me to effectively help adults individuals and couples who are struggling with depression, difficulty with intimacy, anxiety, social and work problems, anger problems, and trauma from past and present. What we learn about how to love, be close, and solve problems we learn mostly and most powerfully from the family we grew up in. In understanding what this style is, it's effectiveness, and how we still employ it even if it is hurting us or others, helps us to gain management and decision on change that may bring about greater closeness and satisfaction.I also believe that where you go to seek help should be a place of tranquility, beauty, and confidentiality. I have chosen offices that are in a complex of water fountains and waterfalls to give this peaceful environment, along with offices that are confidential and comfortable.
Bio
I have been licensed for 30 years and have been in full time private practice during that time. Along with specializing in child and adolescent therapy, and adult and couples relationship difficulties, I have conducted numerous marital and parenting workshops for over a dozen churches in Orange County. I am asked often to speak to and train employees and management in conflict resolution, problem solving, and domestic violence for such companies as Western Digital, Verizon, along with several small businesses. I write a montly article for a local publication, the Pony Express, entitled "Trails of Lfe" that speaks to every day life issues. I believe that an effective therapist is also one who practices what they preach in developing healthy relationships and a balanced life. I have been married for 36 years, have three children, and love to spend time in the backcountry backpacking and fishing.
