Bio
Lauri R. Preston, owner and founder of LRP Resources, is a licensed certified social worker (clinical) specializing in individual and couples' psychotherapy, and maintains a growing private practice in Takoma Park, MD.
A graduate of Howard University's School of Social Work with over 10 years of clinical experience, Ms. Preston currently serves her community as a private practitioner working with a broad spectrum of clients. Among her areas of expertise are anger management, anxiety, depression, grief, relationship and self-esteem issues.
Ms. Preston has developed workshops and presented to a variety of audiences on topics ranging from Adult ADD and Time Management to Parenting and Teen Depression. With her sister, LaJoy Preston, MA, CAS, LCPC, she created "GirlTalk", an interactive, therapeutic program designed to teach teenage girls how to intentionally cultivate self-confidence and positive self-esteem. She is a certified Level I EMDR practitioner, as well as a PrepareEnrich Inventory facilitator for couples. Other certifications include CISM (critical incident stress management) facilitator and Myers Briggs Test Inventory facilitation and interpretation.
In addition to her private practice, Ms. Preston directs the Counseling Services program at Washington Adventist University in Takoma Park, MD. In her spare time, Ms. Preston is a singer/songwriter/recording artist, and enjoys baking, creating jewelry and traveling.
