Life can get complicated. You may be trying all that you know how to do to make things better for yourself or for someone you love but have run out of energy, ideas or both. You may have a relationship with someone you love but you just can't seem to get along. You may be a parent trying to best figure out how to help a child or teen who is having problems. You may feel burdened by sadness, fear or stress.Or, perhaps you have old wounds that seem to keep interfering with you creating the life you want.
All of our therapists have advanced training in couples and family therapy, addictions treatment (including internet, pornography, gambling, etc.) trauma and stress recovery, to name a few. We have many years of experience in helping people heal from depression and anxiety, sexual dysfunction, affairs, and compulsive overeating as well.

We will be glad to spend some time with you by phone to make sure that we are a good fit. We won't just sit silently, but we will do everything we can to listen and help you heal and move forward, move on.

Bio
I am a licensed clinical psychologist, certified addictions counselor and board certified expert in traumatic stress with over 20 years of experience working with individuals, couples, families and groups. I am also a local and national lecturer on trauma, substance abuse, LGBT issues, and working with couples. I have worked with adolescents throughout my career and dedicate a portion of my practice specifically to adolescents and their families.

While a traditionally trained psychodynamic therapist, my style is interactive and I utilize a variety of approaches to help people achieve their goals. I listens intently, but do not just sit silently. My style is interactive as I work with each client individually to achieve the changes they desire.

For 10 years I was a member of the adjunct faculty of the Chicago School of Professional Psychology and have taught doctoral level students courses in Family Therapy, Trauma therapy in Clinical Practice, and Substance Abuse. For the 8 years I was a core faculty member of the Clinical Training Center (formerly the Chicago Training Collaborative). This program is the first of its kind in the country and focuses primarily on training therapists to work with LGBT clients and their loved ones. Courses taught include The Relational lives of LGBT clients and Trauma therapy in clinical practice with LGBT clients. I have also taught courses in Psychological Practice and consults regarding private practice development. I provide clinical consultation to other therapists regarding treating trauma, substance abuse, couples therapy and sensitivity to LGBT issues in therapy.
