EarlySpeak focuses on early speech-language assessment and intervention for children from 1 1/2-5 years of age as well as for primary school aged children. Nancy Thorner, the owner and sole proprietor of EarlySpeak, has 30 years of experience working with children and their families, educators and physicians to achieve their individual speech-language goals. Pediatric disorders treated include articulation/phonological impairments, receptive and expressive language delays and disorders, childhood apraxia of speech, language- based learning disorders, fluency and voice disorders.

Nancy has worked in a variety of clinical settings, including public and private schools, private practice/clinics, hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, and home health. Nancy offers personalized, high quality, services with close family contact and involvement in all aspects of care.

In addition to providing the pediatric services listed above, Nancy also provides accent reduction/modification classes for adults who are non-native English speakers and are seeking to improve speech sound production, prosody/rhythm of speech, intonation patterns, vocabulary, and grammatical skills. Free on-site preschool screenings are available within upper Montgomery County, Maryland.

Nancy has a B.A. in linguistics from UCLA and an M.A. in Communication Disorders from California State University, Northridge. She has extensive experience working with pediatrics and geriatrics. She is an active member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and is licensed in the state of Maryland. Nancy is a current member of The Roundtable Network, consisting of colleagues and other professionals working in the field of early childhood (psychologists, OTs, social workers, physicians, educators, etc.).
