I am familiar with the many challenges that disrupt a life and I am well trained to assist in the management and mastery of difficulties presented by depression, anxiety, stress, trauma, relational and marital conflict, parenting, divorce, remarriage and blending families, social maladjustment, attachment difficulties, disabling illness, and alternative life styles.

I believe every individual and family have natural strength and resilience that assist in moving toward problem resolution and improved emotional, physical and spiritual health. My respectful, positive and active orientation serves to help create a true partnership with my clients – one that facilitates the achievement of personal goals and emotional well being. Regardless of the presenting problem, I will devote considerable energy to supporting you, my client, in an atmosphere of encouragement, compassion and privacy.

I welcome your call and look forward to meeting with you.
I was born and raised in the South and came of age during the deeply affecting years of the 1960's - an historic decade during which the quest for personal and political equality was paramount. I was a music student (piano) at the University of North Carolina until the pull toward involvement in the civil rights and the women's movements drew me toward a course committed to the greater good. After a number of years in New England, I returned to George Washington University where I received a BA in Psychology, then to
Catholic University where I received an master's in clinical social work. After 2 years in a community mental center, I established a private practice in Northern Virginia, and in 2011, opened an office in Dupont Circle, Washington DC. I am married with two adult children and a terrific dog. I enjoy hiking, biking, gardening, writing, reading, theater, movies and cooking.
