The Buckeye Ranch uses evidenced informed and evidenced based interventions in collaboration with other systems to provide the best possible treatment options. Our services provide youth(ages 5.5 to 18) and their families with comprehensive and individualized mental health and substance abuse treatment.

Children and teens who might benefit from professional services show signs which may include:

School disruption or fights
Changes in grades
Exceptional shyness
Impulsive behavior
Changes in friends/has no friends
Alcohol/drug use
Eating/sleeping problems

Running away
Uncontrolled anger
Excessive arguing about rules/curfew
Self-harm or hurts others
Cruelty to animals/property damage

Outpatient counseling provides help for children, teens, and families at our three locations in Central Ohio. Professional therapists help children, teens, and families learn and manage a variety of emotional and behavioral challenges including: depression, anxiety, substance abuse, Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity, behavioral difficulties in the home and at school, and the effects of trauma and/or abuse. Treatment services include: individual, group, and family counseling.

FAMILY THERAPY (FFT): The Buckeye Ranch works specifically with Franklin County Children’s Services, Franklin County Juvenile Court and the Franklin County ADAMH Board to provide an intensive (2-4 hrs/week) evidence based program with 24-hr crisis intervention. The intervention program itself consists of five major components in addition to pretreatment activities: Engagement in change; Motivation to change; Relational/Interpersonal Assessment and planning for Behavior change; Behavior Change; and Generalization across behavioral domains and multiple systems

SOMALI PROGRAM: Non intensive and Intensive case management and support for native Somali youth and families struggling with the acculturation process and family conflict. The team is designed to provide culturally specific intervention without the use of interpreters.

PHARMCOLOGICAL MANAGEMENT: Psychiatric services are available at select Columbus locations. They are scheduled by appointment. Youth who are not in need of additional MH/SA services and who are stable with a particular medication regime are able to see a nurse practitioner for ongoing services.

NON-INTENSIVE : Services are provided 1-2x/week in the family’s home, school, and community. Staff are trained to provide 24-hr crisis intervention and targeted interventions to assist with self-harmful behaviors, severe depression, aggression, substance abuse, trauma and defiant behaviors.

INTENSIVE: Services are provided 2-4x/week in the family’s home to aide in keeping youth and families together in their home. Staff are trained to provide 24-hr crisis intervention and targeted interventions to assist with self-harmful behaviors, severe depression, aggression, substance abuse, trauma and defiant behaviors. Staff are also trained to assist with youth transitioning from hospitalizations, residential care, inpatient substance abuse treatment and foster care.
