Brey Counseling Services
Trauma Therapist in Philadelphia
Jennifer Brey, MA, LPC has several years of experience treating adults with substance use disorders as well as survivors of traumatic experiences. She specializes in helping survivors of trauma recover from these experiences. She uses techniques and ideas from varied therapeutic practices, tailoring therapy to meet individual needs.
Bio
Jennifer Brey obtained her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Temple University and a master’s degree in clinical counseling psychology from La Salle University. In her counseling internship, she worked with people with substance use issues. This experience helped her realize that this self-destructive behavior pattern, while causing many problems on its own, was actually better understood as an unhealthy way to cope with mental health issues and/or unresolved traumatic experiences rather than as the primary issue.
She has several years of experience treating adults with substance use disorders as well as survivors of traumatic experiences. Other areas of specialty include self-esteem, communication, anxiety, depression, grief and loss. Her theoretical framework is grounded in cognitive behavioral therapy.
