Kimberly Callaway-Fliege, LPC, NCC
Attuned and Compassionate Psychotherapy
Counseling In St. Louis
I have been practicing therapy with individuals and families for several years. I have extensive training and experience treating eating disorders (anorexia, bulimia, binge eating, and compulsive exercise) in both residential and outpatient settings, along with generalized anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress. I work with a range of clients, including those actively struggling with addiction or eating disordered behavior, self-injury, or OCD, along with clients working toward maintaining their recovery. I welcome the challenge of working with clients who have endured multiple lapses in their recovery process, because I understand recovery and personal growth is not only not linear, but is a lifelong journey.
I also love working with clients who are seeking to understand themselves and their patterns on a deeper level. Whether you feel you are at a crossroads in life, wonder why you continue to experience failed or dissatisfying relationships, or simply value the insight and connection of a therapeutic relationship, I would be honored to assist you on your path. I believe and understand that all behavior is symptomatic of a deeper emotional wound, and one can not change their behavior in the present without resolving what is in the past.
In all of my work, I utilize an attachment-based model based on the brilliant research of professionals like Pat Crittenden, Jeffrey Young, and Mary Ainsworth. I can assist you in identifying old attachment injuries and finally finding relief and acceptance of these wounds as you actively work toward changing your patterns in the present.

Bio
I earned both my undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Illinois. I began my counseling career as a graduate student interning in the Counseling Services center of a small, private university. I chose this internship because I love working with the young adult population; I love identity work and the search for autonomy and self-understanding, which is a critical component of the young adult years.
Following graduation, I spent a few years providing counseling services to foster children and teens. I worked with primarily teenagers that spent most of their lives in the foster care system, and this opened my eyes to the deep impact our attachment structure has on how we function with literally every part of our lives. This also provided me experience in treating trauma, particularly sexual abuse.
The experience with both attachment trauma and sexual abuse led me to my most challenging position to date- as a primary therapist at a residential facility for eating disorders. During my time in this position, I learned how to effectively treat the deepest layers of emotional and behavioral disturbance, and this provided me with the current therapeutic framework I use in my practice
