I view each of my therapeutic relationships as an opportunity to be a strength and an ally in another individual's journey. I feel that the relationships should be collaborative and built upon safety and trust between both individuals. I feel that every individual possesses a unique life story and the therapeutic relationship helps clients make meaning of their lives in many ways. My relationship with clients helps them feel heard, understood, and brings another perspective to life events. Working together, we create and utilize skills in order to live a better and happier life.
I have a Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from Lewis University and a Bachelor’s degree with a major in Psychology from the University of Illinois at Chicago. I am also a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor.
Methods and Approaches: Depending on the individual needs of the client, I enjoy utilizing a variety of therapeutic approaches including: Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Rational and Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT), Solution-focused brief therapy (SFBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), somatic techniques to increase body awareness, and Art or Expressive Therapy techniques. I also like giving applied homework to better practice skills processed in sessions.
I enjoy going to concerts, bowling, watching baseball and football, reading, playing volleyball, and boxing classes.
