I was raised on a farm in central Texas. There, I spent a significant amount of time in nature. Most of my upbringing did not involve interaction with people on an interpersonal level. Soon it came time for me to make a place for myself in the crowded rooms and hallways of public education. I realized how important it was for me to build a support group. One of my needs was to have friends who would be there for me and understand what I was going through on a daily basis.

After high school, I went on to graduate from Concordia University in Austin with a Liberal Arts Bachelor’s Degree. Graduate school was right around the corner, “But what would I study?” I asked myself. My father told me that I was a good listener and friend. “Maybe you should try being a therapist,” he said. On the road to earning a Master’s Degree in Licensed Professional Counseling, I started to search for the wisdom inherent in the connection between two (or more) people.

It wasn’t until my final internship that I stumbled upon a quote from Indian poet, Rabindranath Tagor: “I slept and dreamt that life was joy. I awoke and saw that life was service. I acted and behold, service was joy.” And, there you have it. When I was an adolescent, I sought out relationships to meet my needs. Today, I can seek out others in hope of giving back. My purpose in life is to be of service. Therein lies the joy that carries me through each day.

My goal in therapy is to explore your mental, emotional, and spiritual needs and guide you through the process of deepening your sense of purpose so that you also might find joy.
