I enjoy working with a broad range of clients; children, teens, students, adults and families. I understand that each person is unique and will work with you to create a successful treatment plan utilizing a mix of approaches. I am very passionate about working together with clients to create an environment of acceptance, trust and support. Self-awareness is encouraged, along with healing, and personal growth to assist clients in reaching their full potential. Depending on the needs of the client, I draw from a variety of therapeutic approaches including: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Positive Psychology, Client-Centered Therapy, Solution focused, Play Therapy and Family Systems therapies.
I received my Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology with a specialty in Marriage & Family Therapy from Holy Family University and my Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from Iona College. My graduate studies included one year in a Practicum, and then an Internship at Children’s Specialized Hospital in Hamilton, New Jersey, which focused on group and individual Play Therapy for families with children ages 3 -16. My work included cognitive assessment and therapeutic interventions such as cognitive-behavioral therapy, behavior modification, parenting skills, play therapy, and group therapy.
I also volunteer as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) and work with children and their families, which includes partnering with the Department of Children Protection & Permanency Services (DCP&P) to provide wraparound services for families. As a CASA advocate, I am the "voice in court" for children removed from their homes due to abuse and/or neglect. My favorite past time is spending time with my four children and seven grandchildren, seven sisters and two brothers. In my spare time, I enjoy cooking and working in several ministries at my church. |
