I work with children, adults, and couples. My main training is in the psychodynamic orientation, but I also have experience in cognitive-behavioral and brief psychotherapy. In addition to general psychotherapy, I have specific training and experience in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), which is especially suited to those who have been traumatized, are anxious, or have experienced debilitating loss.
The nature and extent of psychological treatment varies according to the issues involved. In general, treatment entails an identification of problem areas, an increasing understanding of the external circumstances and internal thoughts and feelings that contribute to the difficulties, and an exploration of the clients' strengths suited to addressing their issues. When appropriate, treatment may also involve an exploration of patterns of relationships formed in the past, their influence on current difficulties, and changes the client may want to make to secure more stable relationships in the future.
