Myofascial Release as taught by John Barnes forms the core orientation of my work. Sessions can produce very profound relaxation. The technique is also highly recommended for issues of chronic pain, including fibromyalgia, carpal tunnel, sciatica, plantar fasciitis, and low back or neck pain. Myofascial Bodywork can also improve the daily life experience of people coping with a wide range of issues, including Parkinson's, lupus, and cancer. Fascia is the connective tissue that gives form to our body. It runs in a continuous web from head to foot, and from surface to depth. It interacts with every cell. Myofascial Bodywork involves relatively gentle, sustained stretches of the fascial tissue to release restrictions. From my point of view, myofascial bodywork is more than a bag full of techniques. It is fundamentally a way of understanding the body and how it functions. This then leads to a particular manner of dealing with the body and its dysfunctions. So, while it is true to say that I only offer Myofascial Bodywork, this encompasses a very broad range of work. My main studio is within Heartspace Yoga and Healing Arts at 747 Madison in Albany. I also see clients on Wednesdays at a studio in Malta. Feel free to call for details.
