Seeking counseling can be a difficult first step. It can be difficult for us to acknowledge our pain, and often we feel guilty about it. Feelings are not good or bad, they just are—the consequences of those feelings are what we can influence. Counseling is important because it can provide a safe place to speak the truth about what we are going through. Our truth is powerful and can be a motivator for making changes to how we feel and what we do. Counseling can help us identify our values, goals, and beliefs and to harness them to help us heal.
Only you know what hurts, what brings you joy, and what changes you want to make. I can collaborate with you as you connect with your truth. I believe that knowing our truth liberates and empowers us. Change is a journey and it is often hard to make alone. I would be honored to accompany you for this part of your journey.
I work with clients who are struggling with substance abuse, addiction, anxiety, depression, and anger. I also work with clients who have criminal charges and criminal convictions, usually related to drugs or alcohol. I have special training in working with clients who have diverse cultural, spiritual, race, class, gender, and sexual identities.
