Music therapy is the intentional and focused use of music and/or music activities to facilitate change and improve quality in non-musical aspects of life. Music is therapeutically used to address/reach goals affecting physiological/physical, psychological/emotional, cognitive/thought patterns and social interaction. Music therapy improves and enhances the quality of life for those well and meets the needs of those with disabilities and/or illnesses. Music therapy interventions applied by a qualified practitioner, can achieve all of the following: Pain relief Enhance memory Help express feelings Improve communication Manage stress Promote physical rehabilitation Promote wellness Music therapy is creative, flexible and often a spontaneous therapy to help people of all ages and all abilities.
