If you or someone you know is unhappy, negative, stressed-out, angry all the time, unproductive, or just plain "stuck," biofeedback may be the solution. If you are a college student, do you freak out at exam time and go blank? Are you a busy professional who multitasks but can never relax? Have you been in therapy a long time, and just not feeling any better? Is chronic pain an issue? If so, research has shown that mindfulness-based techniques, like biofeedback, can help.

As read about in "Buddha's Brain" by Rick Hanson, I use a type of biofeedback which has been shown to "decrease stress, improve cardiovascular health and immune system function, and improve mood. (McCraty, Atkinson, & Thomasino, 2003). I can teach you how to roll with life's ups and downs.

I have the unique combination of education in both neuroscience and counseling that, in my experience, yields greater results in psychotherapy. Our minds cannot work effectively when we are stressed, and HRV biofeedback can show you instantly, and objectively, just how much stress you are carrying in your body. And a mobile practice further reduces your stress because I come to you.

"Pain is inevitable, but suffering is optional."

Bio
Edi has worked in a wide variety of settings: inpatient psychiatric hospitals, outpatient clinics, private group practice, educational institutions, and managed behavioral care organizations. She has had success in treating addictions, mood and anxiety problems, and in helping individuals, couples and groups. All services are LGBT affirmative and inclusive. She is currently on faculty at two universities in the NY/NJ area and her private practice is located in midtown Manhattan.

Her philosophy is simple: most of our hurts, disappointments, and long-term problems can be addressed by changing how we think and react to what is going on around us. The basic concept of REBT is we "are not disturbed by things, but the views we take of them." (Heraclitus)

Just be willing to learn and practice to think and act differently. You WILL feel differently.
