Going Above and Beyond
to Maximize Your Child's Potential
Above and Beyond Speech Therapy is a private practice providing quality speech/language evaluations, therapy, and consultation for children in State College, PA and the surrounding areas. I am able to do telehealth in the entire state of PA.

Are you wondering if your child is speaking enough?

Is your child hard to understand or are they having trouble with certain sounds?

Are you navigating a new or existing diagnosis, like autism, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, or a genetic disorder?

Would you like your child to have additional speech therapy than what the school or IU is providing? Or maybe your child didn’t qualify and you’d like them to have services.

I can help. I will work with you to create a plan for your child where they will find success while working on their speech or language skills.

Bio
My name is Emily Aten, MS CCC-SLP PA-L and I'm the owner of Above and Beyond Speech Therapy. I have been working as a Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) with school aged children in the public schools in the State College area for over a decade.

I have provided evidence-based speech/language evaluations and therapy for clients who have autism, Down syndrome, Intellectual Disability, speech/articulation disorders, receptive and/or expressive language disorders, social language needs, and stuttering needs. I maximize a child’s speech and language abilities to reach their full potential.

I specialize in working with children with complex communication needs (CCNs) who need Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC). No matter the child, I will work with them and their family to advance strengths, address needs, and find an effective communication system for them.

I truly believe that the child teaches me as much as I teach them.

I have my Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and have received a number of ACES awards from ASHA because of my extra continuing education credits. I am also licensed in the state of PA.
