Hannah Ross Educational Therapy
Specialized academic support for your child's unique needs
Does your child become easily frustrated with homework? Does your child struggle to keep up with their peers academically? Does your child exhibit anxiety and a lack of self-esteem when it comes to learning? If so, Educational Therapy may be the solution for you.
Educational Therapy is individualized academic support that enables students to develop skills and strategies to be successful learners in a classroom environment. An Educational Therapist helps students set attainable learning goals, provides targeted one-on-one support, conducts formal and informal skills assessments, and utilizes innovative teaching techniques to meet the needs of each particular student.
Oftentimes when a student is struggling to succeed in school there is an underlying reason. Educational Therapy aims to identify the cause and helps students overcome skill deficits. The ultimate goal is for students to develop strategies to help them not only enjoy learning, but also perform at their highest academic potential.
Education/Training
After graduating from Pepperdine University with a Bachelors of Arts in Elementary Education, as well as my California Teaching Credential, I taught 3rd and 4th grade at Chandler School, an independent school in Pasadena for 4 years. I loved the excitement and community of working as a teacher, yet in the classroom environment I begin to notice students who were not receiving the academic support they truly needed. I observed students that lacked skills in specific academic areas, couldn’t focus on work in the classroom setting, or simply lacked confidence in their ability as learners. I tried my best to meet the unique needs of each student, but I realized that many of these students would benefit from targeted, one-on-one instruction, which led my to further my own education in the field of Educational Therapy.
In 2015, I earned my certificate of Educational Therapy from University of California Riverside and became an active member in the national Association of Educational Therapists. I have had the opportunity to hone my expertise in educational therapy through working closely with several renowned educational therapists in the Santa Monica area.
Since beginning my career in educational therapy, I have transitioned into a Learning Specialist role at Chandler School and have started my own educational therapy practice. Both roles allow me to pursue my dream of empowering students to become successful learners. I currently provide tailored one-on-one educational therapy sessions in the homes of my clients. I love what I do and hope that I can be a support in your child’s learning!
