Located in downtown Troy, Ohio, since 1992, Swank Counseling provides practical mental health counseling for all ages. Our style is personal, pragmatic and goal oriented. We try to help you enhance the quality of your life.
Areas of primary interest in the counseling field is the interface between medicine and wellness. Depression, anxiety, panic disorders, obsessive disorders, bipolar disorders and attention deficit disorders are a key area of interest and treatment.
Relationships between people, and helping people have more satisfactory relationships is also of great interest, as he works with marital issues, relationship problems, parenting challenging, and dealing with divorced and blended families.

Bio
John Swank is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor. He has been in practice in Troy, OH since 1985. He grew up in Lewisburg, Ohio, west of Dayton and south of Greenville. He graduated with a bachelor's degree from Miami University in 1969. He received a Masters Degree from Hamma School of Theology at Wittenberg University in 1973. He later graduated from Wright State University in 1985 with a Master of Science in Mental Health Counseling.
Mr. Swank is licensed with the Ohio Counselor and Social Worker Board as a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor. That license allows counselors to diagnose and treat mental disorders without supervision.
He is a member of the Ohio Counseling Association. He has presented workshops on medications used for mental health issues.
Active at St. John's United Church of Christ in Troy, he also serves on the program committee of the Troy Hayner Cultural Center.
Hobbies are woodworking, and collecting antiques including antique woodworking tools. He likes to fiddle around in his workshop and occasionally gets out on his recumbent bike. He is an avid genealogist, having traced many sides of his family back to the 1500's. He loves reading, research, writing and public speaking.
He has been married to Joyce Swank since 1969. Joyce grew up in Sidney, Ohio. They have lived in Miami County since 1984.

Hours:1-5pm Monday, 8:15-5 pm T,W, TH, F. Evening hours are available for an additonal $10 fee
Cost/Session
$100 to $130 per session. Discount for full payment at time of service if not using insurance.
