Bio
Julia brings to her work the conviction that we all have inner wisdom that can help us heal. Her teaching and individual sessions are informed by her previous career as a successful acquisitions editor with Cambridge University Press, where she developed books with many leading thinkers in the field of psychology. After 25 years in academic publishing, she turned her attention to becoming a highly skilled yoga therapist.
In her classes and private sessions, Julia draws from wisdom of the East – that healing happens through the energetic body – as well as clinical health research from the West. She is certified through Integrative Yoga Therapy and Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy, and has additional training in restorative yoga, reiki, herbal medicine, and yoga for heart health.
For the past 20 years, Julia has guided clients to their own inner healing through classes and sessions in the New York area. She has developed her own healing practice, combining active and supported yoga, healing touch, and dialogue.
From 2009 to 2013, Julia taught a 200 hour yoga teacher training as an affiliate of Integrative Yoga Therapy, and for the past six years she has offered an annual two-day training for yoga teachers in chair yoga. She teaches workshops on a variety of topics, including back care, stress reduction, healing through the chakras, and introduction to mudras.
