Helping Children Reach Their Potential
The K & M Center was established in 1994 and provides educational remediation to students age 5 through adulthood. Services offered include research based techniques for all subject areas, including reading, writing, math, attention, working memory and executive functioning. Educational assessment is also available. All educational specialists have MA degrees in related fields and/or teaching credentials. Sessions are conducted in the office, or at home for your convenience.
Targeted Tutoring is a subsidiary of the K & M Center that provides in home tutoring at a lower cost. All tutors are supervised by an educational therapist. The K & M Center has an after school homework room. Expert supervision is offered for students to come to complete their homework in a focused, supportive and fun environment.
The K & M Center is proud to offer products from our Targeted Learning Series, including a Targeted Reading Program, Targeted Executive Functioning, Targeted Math to Learn the Times Tables and Targeted Flexible Thinking.
The mission of the K & M Center is to address each child in a holistic manner and enable all children to work to their potential.
Bio
The K & M Center Directors, Karen Fried, Psy.D. and Melissa Mullin Ph.D. oversee a group of talented educators and tutors who fulfill the mission of the K & M Center: enabling children to fulfill their potential. Karen Fried has Masters degrees in Human Development and Clinical Psychology and a Psy.D. in Psychology from Ryokan College. Dr. Fried is a licensed M.F.T. and has a private practice in psychotherapy, seeing children, adults, couples and families.
Melissa Mullin received her Ph.D. in Education Psychology from UCLA. Dr. Mullin conducts educational evaluations and provides consultations to parents and schools.
Both Drs. Fried and Mullin have spoken to several schools and parent groups on the topics of Learning Disabilities, Attentional Difficulties, and Executive Functioning.
Memberships
Karen Fried, Psy.D., M.F.T. is a professional member of the Association of Educational Therapists, the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists and is a founding board member of the Violet Solomon Oaklander Foundation and on the Advisory Board of 826LA.
Melissa Mullin, Ph.D. is a member of the APA.
