Leila Aboohamad is a licensed MFT in private practice for 30 years. She has developed successful methods for helping men and women in unsuccessful relationships look within to discover what is keeping them from creating healthy, happy "I Thou" relationships. The process includes an understanding of how of one's family of origin contributed to the lack of a solid , healthy and independent identity. Leila works with individuals and couples.
Leila has an extensive background in spirituality and mindfulness , helping her clients to access that Inner Wisdom and serenity which guides them in all areas of life.
Leila has worked for many years with professionals who are stressed and in need of direction re their special gifts and talents. Often times they are unaware of their true gifts and talents and are guided to look within to discover that perhaps a career change is necessary. it is so exciting to watch a new awareness of the true self come to consciousness as the client embraces that part for perhaps the first time.
Leila is also an expert in anxiety disorders, panic disorder, co-dependency.
Education/Training
I earned my BA in Communication at the University of Southern California (USC)
I earned my MA degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Azusa Pacific University .
I am licensed since 1990 in California , MFT25283.
I have been trained in Sex Therapy.
I am a Practitioner in the philosophy of Centers for Creative Living (formerly Science of Mind or Religious Science)
Bio
I first entered psychotherapy at 23 after the death of my mother , the force which empowered our family system.
Entering therapy is one of the best decision I ever made as I was made aware of the Family of Origin issues which had negatively affected my self esteem , my sense of identity and my ability to express my gifts and talents in the world as I was paralyzed by fear, anxiety and sadness.
I sold my beautiful sports car to pay for my therapy and have never regretted it. My Corvette could not fill my emptiness.I looked great in the car, but inside myself I was a sad, lonely, lost soul. Not anymore!!!
I found my true self and a path of spirituality and mindfulness which I have followed through the years and share with my clients. I became a psychotherapist to help others heal themselves so they would not be sentenced to a life of unhappiness , loneliness and lack of serenity.
