Now Is the Time to Heal!
Dr. Roger Aveyard, PhD
Life is sometimes very difficult. At the same time, you know that within you there is the strength and courage to deal with life's challenges; you just need some guidance to access the power within you. Using a positive, strength-based approach, I will help you set goals for healing and restore the energy you need to begin the healing process. Together we will embark on a journey of recovery. We will discover solutions to some problems and let go of others. It will be a cleansing and renewal experience. You will learn new coping skills and gain more confidence in yourself. Your success is my success!

Bio
My parents had eight children. Growing up in a large family was an educational experience as meaningful as any of my degrees, but I have always enjoyed learning about human nature, psychology, counseling, and the human brain, the most complex computer ever made. This thirst for knowledge led to my obtaining the Bachelor's, Master's and PhD degrees.
Along the way I worked in a private tutorial school for students at risk, a state agency for dually diagnosed individuals with developmental disabilities and mental illness, a private residential setting for troubled adolescents, various hospitals leading stop-smoking clinics, counseled senior citizens with depression in nursing homes, worked with a Suicide Prevention Task Force, and engaged in counseling in private practice. For over ten years I have hosted a radio show presenting a variety of mental health issues such as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, stress, ADD, ADHD, OCD, marriage issues, anger management and adjustment disorders. I consider myself to be a general practitioner and I will refer my patients to specialists if the need arises. I am only as successful as my clients. My greatest reward comes from seeing them smile after gaining new skills and self-confidence.
