"Knowing Yourself Is the Beginning of All Wisdom"- Aristotle
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist #80907 specializing in providing psychotherapy, counseling, and mental health services for adolescents, teens, individuals, couples, and families. I provide services at my private-practice offices in both Torrance and Long Beach. I have over 10 years of experience working in the social service and mental health fields with a wide variety of issues, populations, and cultures. I have presented clinical and academic work both locally and internationaly, have taught psychology and philosophy at various colleges, and am currently teaching psychology at Long Beach City College.
Taking that first step toward getting help or seeking a greater knowledge of Self can be the hardest part and I understand that. I have faced many obstacles in my journey through life, and am grateful to now be in a position to help others. I focus on providing a safe environment in order to help you speak freely, share your story, ask difficult questions, and face challenging issues in a confidential exchange. In beginning this inquiry, today you are one step closer to finding answers. Sometimes circumstances befall us in our journey through life that can leave us feeling lost or confused with various questions. These are some of the ways in which those questions surface: Is something holding you back in life? Is something getting you down that you feel you can’t share with anyone? Do you question why you made certain choices in life? Are you struggling in your relationships? Are you at a crossroads in life? Do you question the meaning of life? Do you crave a better knowledge of Self? Does your past have too much influence and control on your present? Are you seeking personal and relational development? Do you want to attain a new way of seeing your self so you can create a new way of being? If you have questions like these or similar ones, therapy and counseling may be able to help. In begining this search and inquiry for yourself, today you are one step closer to expressing yourself and answering questions so that you can feel a stronger sense of Self-empowerment on a positive path to growth and well-being.
As a depth psychotherapist, my goal is to help you uncover your true potential and lead a life that is worth celebrating and affirming everyday. While we can't change difficult situations of the past, we can work together to better understand how they effect you in the present in order to resolve challenges in your life and create a new way of being. By utilizing a variety of therapy approaches and techniques chosen to both suit who you are a person and address the issues you bring forth, we will unearth long-standing behavior patterns or negative perceptions that may be holding you back from experiencing a more fulfilling and meaningful life.
I have also studied philosophy at the University of Liverpool in England, and am open to discussing any of life's difficult questions, spirituality issues, and existential themes that may be running through your mind.
If you're looking for extra support and guidance through a challenging situation or you're just ready to move in a new direction in your life, I look forward to working with you to achieve your goals.

Bio
I first began to study psychology and philosophy at California State University, Fullerton where I graduated with bachelor's degrees in both subjects. My own struggles in life led me to these areas of study as I began to ask questions as to why I had made certain decisions in life and what illusory force was driving these decisions? Through studying psychoanalysis, I was intrigued by Freud’s discovery of the unconscious mind as a potential answer. It is my continued fascination with the activity of unconscious mental life and a deep passion to help others with the knowledge I've learned that still drives my work and research to this day. I attained a master’s degree in Integral Counseling Psychology from the California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco which emphasizes a unique approach of utilizing both Eastern spirituality and Western psychology to facilitate holistic healing and growth. I went on to achieve a second master’s degree in Philosophy as A Way of Life from the University of Liverpool in the United Kingdom. My openness to philosophical questions and existential themes is essential to my work as a psychotherapist. However, I mainly utilize an eclectic foundation and approach to therapy focused on meeting clients where they're at with the best therapeutic intervention, modality and style that suits them and facilitates personal growth and healing such as self-psychology, object relations, relational psychotherapy, Jungian psychotherapy, Gestalt Therapy, Family Systems, inter-subjectivity, cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, accelerated experiential dynamic psychotherapy, Buddhist psychology, humanistic-existential psychotherapy as well as various other psychodynamic approaches to psychotherapy. For more information about how I practice therapy, please see the services provided page of this site. I have worked in the mental health field for over 10 years with various populations including men on parole with substance abuse issues, the chronically mentally ill in both inpatient and outpatient settings, adolescents, college students, teens, children, families, couples, and individuals.
