In late 1989, Dr. Kroin started her private practice, CHOICES: Psychology Consultation Center, on the northside of Indianapolis. Dr. Kroin's special areas of interest include Women's Issues, health concerns, stress management, executive career consultation, and helping individuals, families, and couples resolve communication and relationship problems. Additionally, she has consulted with Women's Hospital of Indianapolis to develop specialized programs for patients with serious health concerns and various businesses regarding employee relationship issues. Dr. Loretta Kroin, Clinical Psychologist, is licensed as a Health Service Provider in Psychology in Indiana. She was awarded a Bachelor of Science degree from Ball State University, Muncie, Indiana in 1981; received her Masters degree in 1983 from Purdue University; completed a pre-doctoral clinical internship at the Indiana University School of Medicine in 1986; and earned her Ph.D. from Purdue University in 1988.
Bio:
Dr. Kroin was the 1992-93 President of the Indiana Psychological Association and co-chaired its Women's Issues Task Force. She served as the IPA Public Policy Chair for five years, frequently consulting with government and business officials to develop appropriate public policy standards to reflect the mental health needs of citizens of Indiana. She served on the IPA Board of Directors for eleven years, as Federal Advocacy Coordinator for eleven years and served on the governing body of the American Psychological Association, the Council of Representatives for six years. She served as the chair of the Women’s Caucus for the American Psychological Association, served on the APA’s Committee of State Leaders and was elected as its chair in 2004-2005. Additionally, Dr. Kroin chaired a bipartisan federal political action committee, Women in Psychology for Legislative Action, for eleven years. Dr. Kroin also has served on boards and committees of several local community organizations, including the Julian Center, the Villages of Indiana, and the Network of Women in Business. She served as the Chairman of the Board for the Mental Health Association in Indiana. She served on the Self-Development Study Group of the Women's Fund of Indiana. Dr. Kroin served on the Board of Directors of the Mental Health Association of Indiana for twelve years and the Hamilton County Mental Health Association for seven years. Dr. Kroin has been the recipient of several awards and honors during her career. She received the 1990 Networker of the Year Award from the Network of Women in Business. She was an honoree of the 1992 YWCA Salute to Women in Achievement. In February of 1993 she was honored as an Outstanding Young Alumnus of Ball State University. In 1997, Dr. Kroin was honored with the Karl F. Heiser Award for Advocacy by the American Psychological Association, one of psychology's most prestigious awards. In July of 2003, Dr. Kroin was appointed by Indiana’s Governor Frank O’Bannon to serve on the Indiana Commission on Mental Health. In August 2006, Dr. Kroin was honored as the Advocate of the Year by the Association for the Advancement of Psychology.
