Bio: |
As the managing director of North Texas Counselors, Jackie is a Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor, National Certified Counselor, Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor and author of 7 books. She has a Bachelor of Social Work degree from Texas Christian University and a Master of Science in Counseling degree from Texas Woman’s University. Jackie is a member of the Texas Counseling Association and the Association for Play Therapy as well as frequent presenter on a variety of therapeutic topics.
Over the last 10 years Jackie has had the privilege of working with children, teens and adults in a variety of settings including schools, agencies and private practice. Her work as a Registered Play Therapist offers a unique approach using creativity as a means of expression for all ages. Through her work with children Jackie uses Play Therapy to look for themes in what a child is internally experiencing and to help parents better understand their child’s world. Jackie feels it is important to offer a visual, hands on approach in session as a means of expression including social stories, anger meters and/or behavior plans, which can be used later as a visual reinforcement for home and school.
When working with teens and adults, she meets people where they are on their life journey offering respect and a deep understanding of each client’s unique experience and goals. Jackie strongly believes in the importance of the therapeutic relationship. She enjoys guiding individuals through the process of self-exploration, where clients increase their self-awareness and realize the power they have to make life changes. Jackie helps people achieve life balance, improve relationships, increase self-confidence and self-acceptance, manage feelings of anxiety and depression, and feel empowered in their lives. |
