Practice Information
I have had experience treating people of all ages and walks of life. The one thing I have found that ties each of us together is the innate desire to progress and better ourselves. In life there will be specific circumstances, life transitions, relationship dynamics and/or traumas that may require us to seek out support and understanding. I have dedicated my professional career in trying to do just that for my clients and their families. Therapy can be an intimidating venture, therefor I have built my profession in creating an environment that makes my clients feel comfortable and safe. I use an eclectic approach in deciding techniques and/or therapy styles to utilize in session. I have learned that therapy has to be as unique as the individuals/couples/families I treat.

Education
In my training I decided to explore and work with a variety of populations and age groups. My work experience began as a community based therapist delivering mental health services to adults ranging from 18-80 years of age. In the last 5 years I have had the opportunity to provide services to children, adolescents, couples and families with a wide range of situations/issues. Currently I am also pursuing becoming certified in Gottman couples therapy and have taken 2 of the 3 trainings necessary to become certified. I believe that my work experience has helped me in my treating individuals in my Private Practice.
Bio:
Thank you for taking the time to get to know me. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with 9 years of experience in the field.

What Is a Licensed marriage and Family Therapist?

LMFT’s obtains a master’s degree and are trained to assess, diagnose, and treat: children, adolescents, adults, couples, families, and groups. In my educational training I was required to complete 3,000 hours of supervised clinical experience . After my 3,000 hours were collected, I successfully passed 2 State Board Competency Examinations administered by the Board of Behavioral Sciences in order to obtain my licensure status.

What Is the difference between a LMFT and other mental health professionals?

• Marriage and Family Therapists (LMFT) have a master’s degree and are relationship specialists that are trained to assess, diagnose, and treat: children, adolescents, adults, couples, families, and groups.

Clinical Social Workers (LCSW) have a master’s degree in social work and help people to achieve more adequate, satisfying, and productive social adjustments

• Psychologists (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) have doctoral degrees in psychology. In addition to being trained in therapy, some do psychological testing to assist with diagnosis and treatment planning when needed.

• Psychiatrists are medical doctors with specialty training in the diagnosis and treatment of mental illness, which often includes prescribing medication and working closely with the therapist of the patient.
