Thalia Ferenc, LMSW,DCSW offers Psychotherapy and Related Services for Charlevoix, Petoskey and Northwestern Lower Michigan. The Serenity Center is Thalia's independent, solo, private practice. Located about half way between Petoskey and Charlevoix Michigan, near US31, the office is tucked into a peaceful residential area where clients enjoy confidentiality, pleasant surroundings and emotional safety.
Thalia sees individual adults, children, couples, families or groups. There is no extra charge for additional family members attending a session. Appointments are usually 50 minutes long. Office hours are flexible and are determined by the needs of current clients. Evening and daytime sessions are available.
Thalia uses an integrative therapy model, incorporating many theoretical systems and techniques to tailor treatment to the unique needs of the individual. One size does NOT fit all. Among her resources are person-centered therapy, brief or solution-focused therapy, object relations, family systems, cognitve behavioral, reality, art or play therapy, and others.
Many insurances are in-network: Aetna, Aetna EAP, PPOM/ Cofinity,Magellan EAP, Magellan, APS Healthcare, Physicians Health Care Plan/PHCS/MultiPlan, Blue Cross/Blue Shield Traditional, State of Michigan Mental Health Case Management Program, McLaren, Tricare, Priority Health, Cofinity, Blue Care Network, Medicare and others. Check with your provider for coverage.
Some examples of adult problems treated: anxiety, depression, adult children of alcoholics, co-dependency, physical, emotional and sexual abuse, divorce adjustment, domestic violence, conflict resolution, communication difficulties, relationship problems, grief and loss, and many more.
Some examples of child problems treated: separation anxiety, school phobia, divorce adjustment, oppositional behavior, sibling rivalry, anger/tantrums, poor self-esteem, social skills deficiencies, depression, anxiety, adjusting to change.
Thalia has a sub-specialty in divorce and separation cases, including child custody/parenting time evaluations, co-parenting issues, and stepfamily dynamics

Children's Treatment
Thalia has completed formal training in children's and adolescents' issues with hundreds of contact hours beyond her degrees . Topics include: mood disorders, family violence, toddlers and preschoolers, divorce, behavior modification, adolescent substance abuse, sexually transmitted disease, trauma, art therapy, family reunification, children who molest, attention deficit disorder, sexual abuse, physical and emotional abuse and neglect, oppositional behavior, anger, anxiety, play therapy (including directive, nondirective, cognitive behavioral, developmentally sensitive, sand tray and other methods) and many more.
Adults' Treatment
Thalia has completed formal training in adults' issues with hundreds of contact hours beyond her degrees, including these: family therapy, brief and solution oriented therapy, adult attention deficit disorder, depression, survivor of childhood abuse, adult child of alcoholic family system, domestic violence, codependency, art therapy, integrative therapy, premarital, marital/couple counseling, cognitive behavioral treatment, anxiety disorders, divorce and many others.
