Dr. Mitch Siegal

PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla. - During the day doctor Mitch Siegal is a chiropractor. He walks the halls of his office and walks the hallways caring for his patients.
But at night, instead of manipulating the spine, the part-time musician manipulates notes.
He is using his talent to write songs for sick kids through the organization, Songs of Love Foundation.
"For many years I was submitting music online and Songs of Love picked up on that and as a result I got a phone call from John Beltzer who is the founder of Songs of Love and he asked if I would be willing to write for children that were either terminally ill or very, very sick and I said no problem," Doctor Siegal said.
For several years Doctor Siegal has been writing songs and recording them to cheer up sick children around the country. He is among more than 50 other songwriters who create songs.
Recently, a youngster named Mariah, who is battling leukemia, had a song written for her.
"They don't know what to expect at first, but all of a sudden you see the smile come on their face because they are starting to recognize 'oh, that's my hobby, that's my name, those are my favorite colors.' "
Even though Dr. Siegal does not get paid to create the songs, the Songs of Love foundation relies on generous donations from the public to help sick children smile.
"To get that little ray of sunshine in their life in the middle of the day when they didn't expect to get anything but doctors and nurses and poking and prodding them all day long, they get this wonderful song," he said.
