I offer an integrative track to psychotherapy that combines insight oriented therapies with a solution focused approach to help individuals and couples make more effective choices and transition through challenging moments in their lives. I work with individuals on issues of self-esteem, life and career transitions, anxiety, depression, stress management, and women's issues. I help couples, who feel they are stuck in a relationship that has lost it's emotional connection, to identify the patterns of behavior that led them to loose their bond.
I work from an emotionally focused approach known as Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy (EFT), helping couples identify disruptive patterns that include, blaming , criticizing, defensiveness, expressions of contempt, and emotional or physical distancing. I work to increase a couple's understanding of each other's emotions, building trust and a secure base from which they can reach out to one another. Partners learn to recognize the negative cycle they are stuck in, identify what keeps them in that cycle, and rebuild the safety and trust necessary to have a deep connection and satisfying relationship.
