Clients often pursue counseling because of specific issues or because life has become more stressful and difficult as their previously used coping skills begin to fail. Past issues, losses, traumatic events, and present day transitions factor in to create struggles and issues that need to be worked through successfully. I believe that in working together as a team to find new, more constructive coping skills, the client can move from just surviving to actually thriving in their day-to-day environments, finding contentment, peace, and joy in and from life once again. I employ play therapy in my work with children as young as three years of age, as well as the use of other psychoeducational and therapeutic activities with adolescents, adults and families to help them make the needed changes.
