Trauma Therapist
Counseling & Mental Health Services
I work with clients struggling with the effects of trauma, self-injury, eating disorders, life-transitions, and grief & loss in their lives. Additionally, I work with the unique culture and complexities of military service and the challenges of re-adjusting back to civilian life.
I work collaboratively with my clients to help get them unstuck from these challenging and dis-empowering experiences, to encourage and support every person's unique strengths and resources, and openly challenge those stories that are no longer serving my clients.
I have been trained in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, a somatic therapy focused in Mind/Body connections and the Trauma Resiliency Model, focused on trauma resiliency. I, additionally, draw from Narrative Therapy, Collaborative Language, and Social Constructionist ideas.
I facilitate Women's Sexual Assault Group.

Bio
My personal experience with self-injury and the influence of depression on my life started me on the very long journey of reclaiming my life and the power of choice back from the problems. I struggled with the idea of going to therapy and recoiled at the prospect of having to ask for help. I, like many others in our society and culture, felt like if I just "kept at it", or more appropriately ignored it, I would be able to convince myself that I was fine. Needless to say, fighting against something that had become part of me wasn't as successful as I thought it would be.
Later in life, I found a therapist that just got me while letting me explore all the complexities of me and I took the next step in reclaiming my life. Finally, it was through my training in the Trauma Resiliency Model that solidified the notion that I, shockingly, was NOT a walking, talking head and that my body had a huge impact on all of my experiences.
