Invidividual and Couples Counseling
Addiction Professional
I provide direct services, education, and training to adolescents and their families with special sensitivity to multicultural populations. My treatment specialties include working with children and adolescents along with their families struggling with addictions, eating disorders, sexual abuse victimization, trauma, and PTSD. Additional areas of special training include depression/anxiety, bereavement issues along with other areas of interpersonal challenges and struggles.
Education/Training
I earned my Master's degree in the late 1980's. I interned at UC Davis Medical Center Outpatient Psychiatry and later at the The Family Service Agency in Sacramento. At both places I provided individual, couples, family, and group therapy to people struggling with anything from severe psychiatric issues to more mild life challenges. I also participated in developing an intensive outpatient Bulimic Program focusing on individual's and families struggling with eating disorders. After completing my education, I worked at child and Family Institute providing therapy for children and families affected by sexual abuse. I also worked with at risk youths and their families at New Morning Youth Services. I currently volunteer at a High school in Sacramento and provide direct service, education, and training to adolescents and their families with sensitivity to multicultural populations.
Bio
First and most importantly, I really love what I do, and respect and value the clients who chose to work with me. I have been married since 1985, and have raised two children. So, along with my work experience and educational background, I have life skills to help guide my work. I offer a highly personalized approach tailored to the client's individual needs. This focused attention helps each individual attain the personal growth for which one strives.
There are many reasons why people come to therapy. Sometimes it is to deal with long standing psychological issues, or problems. Other times it is just in response to unexpected changes on one's life. Therapy can address many different issues including anxiety, depression, stress management and general life transitions.
I offer a free 1/2 hour initial telephone consultation.
