Christy Graham, LPC-S, Registered Play Therapist Supervisor
Stronger Families; Stronger Children
Christy Graham, LPC and Associates LLC
Work with a skilled, dedicated, experienced professional who can assist you in dealing with divorce, trauma, and life changes. Therapy focuses on developing relationships within the family through individual therapy for the child, parenting assistance, and family interventions.
Life is complicated! Learning to navigate parenting issues, marital troubles, issues from our past, and integrating our world view into our lifestyle can be difficult--especially when we feel so disconnected from others.
Counseling From A Christian Perspective
Using the Bible in counseling is crucial for a Christian's growth. Learning from the timeless truths of the Bible with someone else can give a perspective and a power missing from other forms of therapy.
1 John 1:9
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from unrighteousness.
This type of therapy incorporates both evidenced based therapeutic interventions and Bible verses to facilitate change.
2 Timothy 3:16
All Scripture is God-Breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness.
For parents, the only difference in the Christian therapy and typical play therapy is the interventions at home--Bible memory and reading stories from the Bible that touch on specific issues in the child's life.
Deuteronomy 6:6-7
These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.
Helping parents incorporate their world view into their parenting is the goal.

For Mental Health Professionals
Practicum Experience
Practicum students can work side-by-side with Christy and her team of professionals. Learn what its like to be a private practitioner and discover if this is where your love is. Learn play therapy techniques and practice working within family systems to make a difference. Experiences may include co-therapy, group therapy, couples and family therapy, intakes, court appearances [observing] and opportunities to create a published blog. Practicum Students are Master's level students who are in their last semesters before graduating. They typically have all the training but little experience in the 'room'.
Supervision Services Offered
Christy has over 12 years of play therapy experience. She has worked in multiple areas--private practice, MHMR, and psychiatric residential treatment programs. She would love to help you 'hatch' into the therapist you were meant to be.
LPC-interns can choose from two programs. One, Christy will hire you on a contract basis. The second program is one where you may meet with her on a weekly basis for an hourly fee. Both programs are designed to give broad experiences and training while providing state sanctioned supervision hours. Practicum training may also be available.

Bio
My growing up years were spent all over Texas and Kansas, but I graduated from high school in Conroe. College Station was my home in undergrad--WHOOP!--and once I received my BA in Psychology at Texas A & M, I moved on to Sam Houston State University for my masters in Clinical Psychology.
My work as a therapist started in 1999 at a Mental Health Mental Retardation center. I first worked with adults diagnosed with chronic mental health issues and then moved to work with children and families. I was fully licensed by the state of Texas in 2000 and received my registration as a play therapist in 2001.
My family moved to Denton in 2001 and I began working with the Nelson Residential Treatment Center where I worked with extremely traumatized children who were unsafe for the themselves and others to live in the community. My work changed substantially in 2003 when I became a mother for the first time and a private Christian therapist. I've been working with children, families, and traumatized women since then while learning to integrate my life as a wife, mother, and Christian. Life is never boring, but God is good!
