Have you chosen to take the first step toward resuming control in your life? This is an excellent beginning toward creating and attaining your personal goals. This is a journey of self-discovery you will no longer make alone. I would enjoy helping you to overcome your fears and problems that are stopping you from moving forward. We will discuss issues (past and present) that have kept you immobile. From there, you will gain insight My therapeutic approach is a collaborative one; I believe in being interactive and encourage a dialogue while we work together in a professional, yet comfortable, setting.
I have 30+ years of experience as a psychotherapist and although psychodynamically trained, I employ an eclectic approach because each individual is distinct. In addition to my work as a therapist, I have a background in the performing arts (dance and music) which gives me an understanding of issues related to performers.

Bio
Hometown: Washington, I majored in music for 3 years at Boston Universty (Mass.), changed majors to medical technology and worked in hospitals as a supervisor of medical laboratories in PA and FL. During that time, took psychology courses and moved to Florida where I completed the BA in music. In Wisconsin, I worked for a year in the Univ. of WI Neurological Hospital, performing neuropsychological testing on neuurologically impaired individuals. In Birmingham, AL, I worked in an outpatient mental health clinic and did research in conjunction with that clinic. I came to New York to study dance therapy at Hunter College in order to combine my dance career with my psychology background. I taught psychology courses at Hunter College for three years and worked in an inpatient psychiatric unit for 21 years in NYC. I also taught and performed ballet and jazz in NYC. My interest in Asian philosophies led me to study acupuncture and, when applicable, I can combine my knowledge in this area with my work in psychotherapy.
