Listen to Your Body to Connect with the Wisdom that Heals
Movement for Healing
View phone
There is a movement that is happening. It is a movement for healing that is arising from each person's soul. As a culture we have exhausted the possibilities of our individualistic/separatist concepts of life and are now awakening to the "interbeing" of all of life. Sourcing ourselves from this place of "interbeing" is the only truly sustainable way to live and yet we often feel confused about how to connect with that source. In my own life, I have found no better way to connect to this source than through the body. When we enter into the awareness of our own body, we discover the wellspring that gives our life meaning, creativity and the ability to simply be with what is. In these challenging times when the world is changing so quickly, it can be difficult to feel where our moorings are. But if we go deeply into our own felt experiences we discover the resiliency, the comfort and the wisdom to continue making our way on a path with heart.

I draw from a variety of ways for accessing the body's wisdom to help guide clients to a deeper relationship with their own body. Clients learn how to release tension, align the body, listen deeply to what the body is saying, and to be present with whatever is arising (both internally and externally). Also explored are methods for self expression that help nurture and sustain a healthy, creative life.

My clients are often people who are moving through some kind of healing process. Whether it is an illness, an injury, or some type of chronic pain, clients frequently come to this type of body awareness work when they have not had the physical, emotional, mental, or spiritual relief that they are seeking from other modalities such as physical therapy or psychotherapy. Physical therapy that does not take into account the psycho-emotional aspect of body symptoms can be little better than a short term fix and likewise psychotherapy that focuses only on mentally comprehending troubling issues, is missing out on the vast resources for healing that the body offers. With Movement for Healing you will reap the benefits of allowing your whole self to participate in your healing.

Bio
I bring over thirty years of experience in the movement arts to my work with clients. I have for more than twenty years taught a variety of movement practices (including gymnastics, dance, yoga, pilates) and have been in private practice for the past ten years. I have evolved a unique way of working with my clients. It is a very personal process, one which always begins with whatever the client needs most on any given day. My whole practice is grounded in the concept that the body far exceeds the conscious awareness of the ego mind in its depth and breadth of knowing. The limited ego mind of either the client or myself can never know as much of the truth as the body does. And so, we enter a process together to uncover what the body wants to bring into awareness should we simply take the time and develop the skills to really listen. Whatever we need to regain our balance whether it be surrender, trust, acceptance, resiliency, courage, strength, flexibility, wisdom, comfort, compassion, joy or transformation, the body gives us reliable access to experience just what is needed.
