My practice is a unique type of practice. I am a firm believer that 2 heads are better than one. So, I have decided to form a group network of therapists who collaborate together to provide the best services that we can offer! We do more than just one therapist can do alone. I hired a team of licensed therapists who could work together, each offering a unique perspective, training and expertise, enabling us all to be able to provide you with better trained, skilled and experienced clinicians because we cross-train each other! We discuss case issues and collaborate to offer superior services to our clientele!

For example, I am the owner and director of LA Therapy Network. I am a feminist therapist, have special knowledge and experience helping women in transitions and transitional ages, am expert in the treatment of trauma and trauma related syndromes, and I have over 25 years working with alternative families, adolescents, women and various sexual and gender variant communities. I am especially knowledgeable about women's issues, sex crimes, impact of sudden deaths, teen issues and the GLBTQI communities. I am trained in the treatment of extreme forms of trauma and chronic, repeated abuse/violence. If you are a person dealing with rape, incest or sexual abuse/violence for example, I am ideal therapist to contact. However I don't have as much experience in the treatment of couples, but I do have 2 therapists who are excellent at treating couples! So, if you are a gay male couple who is seeking a sensitive therapist who has an expertise in trauma you may seek me out. I will consult with my colleagues who treat couples to ensure that I am providing you with better care. I have ready access to therapists who are more knowledgeable and thus you benefit! Whereas if I were in practice on my own, you'd be left to getting only my knowledge and you'd have to hope I knew enough about what I was doing. This is really the truth about individual private practices. A therapist only is as good as his/her training. And let’s face it, there is only so much one can focus their training on. Thus... a group network of therapists makes all of us better!

I make sure that every therapist here has different training, expertise and approaches and understandings of how to help clients. That way we all benefit... and that means we can pass our skills as a team onto you! It’s like getting an entire skilled clinical team of experts in one therapist! In addition, let’s say there are situations where I want to refer you out to seek additional services. Often I am just going to refer you to another member of my team. That way you are going to get a better chance of us collaborating closely together! Not so if I were just working on my own. I'd send you out to another professional who is working solo as well. The truth is we won't talk a lot. That means you as the customer get less than ideal care. That’s the whole idea of why I formed LATN, LA Therapy Network!

Education
I first was trained in nursing in the early 90's. My background in nursing has been uniquely beneficial to me in my career because I have a better understanding of the body and mind connection. Understanding the physicality of our being and thus the importance to keep the needs of the body in mind when working with the human psyche is unique to me as a therapist. It inspired me to learn more about how the body holds trauma and how we can work through issues by using somatic techniques in addition to psychological techniques.

I obtained both my BA and MA at Antioch University. Antioch is known for its liberal and more tolerant policies as a school. I believe this enabled me to learn to critically think more and be offered unique learning opportunities I wouldn't have had at other more traditional universities. I am forever grateful I went this route in my educational foundation!

I have since completed several different training programs and seminars. Many were focused specifically on feminist therapy, treating trauma survivors of all different types, dissociation and complex trauma (the impact of chronic and severe and/or extreme cases of childhood abuse & neglect), Sandplay Therapy, EMDR, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, Art Therapy, Play Therapy, and the treatment of sex crimes/sexual abuse and sexual offenders.

I was trained in Part I & II EMDR in 2007. I received a expert status of treatment of trauma disorders in 2006. I was specially trained in the treatment of complex trauma and dissociative disorders in 2007. I was trained in Sandplay Therapy and other art/play therapies in 2006. I am currently undergoing specialty training in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy. I have a lot of specialty training in helping adolescents and children throughout my career along with women and feminist theories.

I am also a trainer and have taught other organizations in a wise variety of topics that I have expertise.
Bio
For me myself, I am a feminist therapist and a Board Certified Expert in Traumatic Stress. I have over 25 years experience helping women, teens, trauma survivors, and alternative sexual and gender identified communities. I work a lot with women and women's issues right now. I have a specialty in helping sexual trauma survivors along with people who have had sudden and traumatic losses (homicide, suicide and other sudden loss).

I've worked with adolescents for a large portion of my career so I consider myself an adolescent specialist as well. My experience in the field started when I was 19 years old. I started helping homeless and high risk youth in Hollywood, CA. I then went on to working with GLBT youth in a residential treatment center. I focused on the impact of childhood abuse and child/adolescent development. I took a special interest in the impact of sexual and gender identity on traumatized youth and began providing a variety of different trainings and public seminars for professionals on helping these different populations. You can check out my CV for more information.
I went into private practice in 2005, after working for youth shelters, treatment centers, clinics and public health centers for over 20 years. I have a solid background in working with more challenging populations, which has enabled me to gain a wide range of experiences to bring to the private sector! I also ensured that I had specialized training in women's issues, trauma and dissociation. This has left me with a unique ability to help clients of a variety of different problems because my training is holistic in nature. I work with every client by using a range of modalities and techniques that are unique and varied. When you come to me, the truth is, you are just getting better therapy because of all the training and intensive experiences I've had in my career. I know more than your average therapist. It makes me stronger and better in a variety of ways.
