Leanne Reed, LPC
Online Professional Counseling
Counseling for anxiety, OCD, substance abuse, depression
In a comfortable and supportive atmosphere, I offer a highly personalized approach tailored to your needs to help you attain the personal growth you're striving for. I employ several different therapeutic models depending on the type of difficulties you are having. Most of my experience is in Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy. Each of these types of therapy have been evaluated and proven to be effective for a variety of problems. Research has consistently shown that the most important element in successful therapy is the working relationship between the client and the therapist. Connecting with you and establishing a solid foundation is my first and most important priority.
Some of my passions include helping people deal with the impact of past traumas on their present lives, treating depression, working with clients who have trouble finding a sense of direction in their lives, and supporting the LGBTQ community. My clients have found my approach to be warm and non-judgmental; while also being honest and straight-forward. As a therapist, you will most likely find me to be, more than anything, a real person who does her best to connect with you. For fun, I enjoy anything outdoors...camping, fly-fishing, hiking...you name it. I'm also an avid reader and lover of both eating and cooking good food.
Bio
I earned my Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology at SMU in Dallas, TX in 2006 where I worked in a community mental health clinic treating adults, couples, and adolescents with a variety of mental health needs. After earning my degree, I moved to Oregon where I began a private practice. I've also provided mental health services in a correctional setting and a state university. I've helped both individuals struggling to deal with life challenges, and those with chronic/recurring debilitating mental illness. I am currently a Licensed Professional Counselor (#C3209, Cynthia Reed). I've had specific training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Gestalt Therapy, and Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT). I have a second masters degree in theology, which can inform my work with clients who find spirituality to be an important component of personal growth.
