Speech Therapy Services for Adults
Increasing Access to Services with In-Home & Virtual Visits
I provide Speech Therapy services to adults in the PNW island communities who have limited access to health care. I understand the time and effort required to travel off-island for medical services. I provide in-home and teletherapy options so you can get the care you need from the convenience and safety of your own home. Speech Therapy covers so much more than speech! Yes, I treat speech articulation disorders. But I also assess and treat impairments in areas of expressive and receptive language, cognition, voice, and swallow safety. If you have had a stroke, a concussion or traumatic brain injury (TBI), have a neurodegenerative disease such as Parkinson's or MS, notice your thinking isn't as sharp as it once was or that your voice has changed, or if you have trouble eating and drinking, please call for a free phone or video consultation. We will discuss your situation, and if I can't help you, I will assist you in finding someone who can.

Bio
I have always had an interest in seeing the world and connecting with its people. As a Peace Corps Volunteer in Ethiopia in the late 1990s, I discovered I could live in interesting places while helping others with their communication challenges. I started my professional career teaching English to adult speakers of other languages, which I've had the privilege of doing in five countries. And I was instrumental in establishing online education with City University of Seattle, which expanded educational opportunities to students with limited access to the classroom setting.
My career shifted when I moved to beautiful Fidalgo Island in 2008 after living for two years on Whidbey Island. I found that my skills as an educator transferred nicely to Speech-Language Pathology. As an SLP (Speech-Language Pathologist), I have worked in skilled nursing, assisted living, memory care, home health, inpatient hospital, and outpatient rehab settings. Many of my patients traveled from nearby islands to receive health care, and I witnessed firsthand how challenging those logistics can be. During the COVID-19 pandemic, telehealth Speech Therapy services became available for adults. With my background in online education and my skills as an SLP, I saw an opportunity to bring Speech Therapy services to residents of the PNW islands.
Please reach out to me if you have any challenges in speech, language, cognition, voice, or swallow safety. Services are available, even if you live in a remote area. I look forward to connecting with you!
