NOT ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS CURRENTLY.
Caring empathy.Learn to Find Happiness in all the right places.

Many of us need support to integrate our emotional, intellectual, & spiritual awareness with life dreams, sexual relationships, & day-to-day commitments. I help my clients recognize and work through repressed or misdirected anger & other destructive patterns which inhibit self growth, self respect, intimacy, spirituality, or commitment in relationships.

I help both individuals and couples, including treating anxiety, menopause, post traumatic stress, dissociation and life changes.

We may work intensively (at least two hours a week) for short, contracted periods of time such as 2 or 3 months. During that period of meeting a minimum of two days a week, the therapy has the opportunity to build in intensity and increase its effectiveness.

After that much intense, introspective work, we take a break for integration of the work on your own. First we negotiate the time period of the break, and if needed, a re-starting time. This empowering time period gives my clients a personal space to assimilate the work and let any positive changes be felt and integrated.

I find that for many people this is the fastest way through change and/or crisis. If needed, I am always available by phone or email during the hiatus in therapy.

I use a variety of techniques including EMDR, shamanic journey, hypnosis and imagery, talk, homework --whatever works at the time. Many of these techniques, useful life tools, can be incorporated by my clients into their everyday lives.

I invite you to consider this form of intensive, condensed therapy as a useful way of dealing with our present life stresses and crises, although I am also available for once a week sessions as well.

Bio
As a working therapist since 1983, I have studied many forms of therapy and therapeutic interventions in depth. These include Self Psychology, Systems family therapy, Eidetic imagery, Somatic work, Hypnosis, EMDR, Shamanic journeying in psychotherapy, working with Dissociative disorders, and Couples’ therapy. I have published articles on integrating Shamanism with Psychotherapy and on identifying Dissociative disorders.

Throughout my career as a psychotherapist, I have seen many types of clients, led therapy groups and consultation groups. I have also successfully employed a variety of methods of self-care and letting go. In this latter part of my career,.

Throughout my life, I have gathered many rich experiences. I have undergone my own psychoanalysis, thus deepening my self-knowledge. I have performed and taught both Middle Eastern and Flamenco dance for most of my life, giving me a strong body awareness as well as experience helping students gain self esteem, love and acceptance of their bodies. I have studied and taught Shamanism and continue to lead shamanic groups and maintain a Shamanic healing practice.

I have lived alone in the mountains and deserts; I have lived in community in isolated places and in more populated settings. I have been a single mother, been married, divorced and remarried. I have experienced the death of a parent and the death of my first child, menopause and social security, grey hair and “aging”.

With all of this, I have deepened my understanding of people and life. The wisdom gained, combined with my extensive therapeutic training, has prepared me both for the role of psychotherapist and of consultant to other therapists. I would love to pass on the benefit of both my knowledge and my training to younger or newer therapists as well as to my clients. If this sounds interesting to you, I encourage you to call or email.
